NYC Call to Action: Reclaim #deBlasiosStreets From Cars

  • Union Square North New York, NY United States (map)

Today, Tuesday, September 14, 2021, New Yorkers from across the five boroughs – led by parents with strollers and New Yorkers who have lost loved ones to traffic violence – will gather for a citywide protest to demand immediate, concrete action from Mayor de Blasio to save lives on the streets he controls and restore the promise of Vision Zero. At the center of the large protest will be ten white ghost strollers, unveiled earlier in the day outside City Hall.

This action comes in a year of record-breaking deaths across the five boroughs. Over the past weekend, preventable traffic violence killed at least six New Yorkers, including a 3-month-old baby girl in a stroller on a Clinton Hill sidewalk. Tuesday’s event is also taking place adjacent to the site where the driver of a tow truck killed 85-year-old Antoinette Turrigiano in July.

This is not a moment for more statements, go-nowhere task forces, or empty promises. New Yorkers are joining together and demanding action now on #deBlasiosStreets.
