Start a chapter or become an Ambassador

Our early success in New York created a demand in cities across the country, and with 20 chapters and a growing group of individual Ambassadors across the country, Families for Safe Streets continues to expand. Creating an FSS chapter or becoming an FSS Ambassador is an essential way to address the preventable problem of traffic violence. We provide our community members with training, guidance, and support so they can lift their voices and channel grief into action. By sharing their loved ones or their own stories with decision-makers, FSS members are able to drive political and social attention to the epidemic of traffic violence and compel decision-makers to make better choices.

FSS offers a 12-part training series to those starting a chapter that includes the FSS theory of change, outreach, communication, fundraising, member support on the local level, coalition building, advocacy and more. The training for chapters is offered 2-3 times/year. FSS also provides a 5-session Ambassador training course quarterly so that you can fight individually in your community even if you do not yet have a chapter.
